Club Handbook, Junior and Youth Section ~ Season 2018 - 19

From Tim Marlow~ Chairman of Junior and Youth Rugby

Welcome to the new season, especially to those new players and parents who join us for the first time.
For those that are not aware, Sean Gilbert & I look after the thriving junior section of the club and can both be found coaching the under 13s this year. We both look forward to building on the success that the junior section has achieved and ensuring the club continues to be a hub of rugby activity for the valley.
Rugby is going to be in the limelight once again this year as we build for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan. Let’s hope we can go a step further than the footballers this year and match the highlights of 2003.

Our season starts off with training throughout September for all junior teams which is a great opportunity for all to catch up with everyone after the summer off. Please take the time to stay around afterwards whilst the weather stays reasonable.
The Swap Shop continues this season and offers great value for pre-loved rugby kit in most sizes so please have a rummage, after training, for anything that you may require and please bring down your own unwanted items too.
I'd also like to highlight the facilities we have on offer at Ilkley. Jasmine is the smiley face behind the bar and whilst you can get your favourite tipple after the game she serves some great coffee before the game too.

The clubhouse is the envy of most other clubs we visit and it is important we maintain its cleanliness so I’d please ask all members to respect and help 'police' this. If you see juniors (or adults) in muddy kit please politely ask them to change or cover up. If you wouldn't allow it at home please don't allow it at the club. That's the house rules out the way, so I would like to finish by wishing all our teams a successful season ahead.
We currently have over 400 juniors down every Sunday morning but always want more, so feel free to ask your family and friends to come down and try out the amazing game we play.
Not only is the physical side excellent, the values instilled at a junior age in all our players are in my opinion priceless and friends are made for life through this fabulous game we all call Rugby.

Have a great 2018/19 season.
